The job
A Volkswagen Virtus / Taigun in India had a used engine ECU fitted. A second-hand ECU is far cheaper than a new one, but it still carries the security data of the car it came from. autocodeRHV adapted the ECU to this car's immobiliser and removed Component Protection, remotely.
Why a used ECU won't just work
On Volkswagen Group cars the engine ECU is part of the immobiliser. It only allows the engine to run when it recognises the car's keys and the other immobiliser modules. A used ECU still recognises the donor car, so in this car the engine typically won't start, or starts and stalls straight away. On top of that, protected modules show Component Protection until they're matched to the new car.
What the fix involves
- Immobiliser adaptation: the ECU is matched to this car's immobiliser and keys. On current Volkswagen Group immobiliser generations this is done online through the manufacturer's systems.
- Component Protection: removed through the official online process so the module is accepted as part of this car.
- Checks: fault memory cleared and all modules checked after the job.
Used parts and anti-theft jobs: our rules
Immobiliser and Component Protection work always needs proof of ownership of the car (registration documents in the owner's name, or the workshop's job card with them). That protects owners, and it's how these systems are meant to be used.
Similar job on your car?
Used or replacement ECUs, clusters, gateways, infotainment units and other protected modules on VW, Škoda, Audi, SEAT and Cupra cars can usually be adapted the same way. In India that includes the Virtus, Taigun, Slavia, Kushaq, Polo and Vento. Send the VIN and the part you've fitted.

Frequently asked questions
Can a used engine ECU be fitted to a Volkswagen?
Yes, but it has to be adapted to the car's immobiliser and, where applicable, Component Protection has to be removed. Without that the engine usually won't run.
Do you do immobiliser and Component Protection jobs in India?
Yes, remotely, anywhere in India. Proof of ownership is required for every anti-theft related job.
Does this work on Škoda Slavia and Kushaq too?
They use the same Volkswagen Group platform and electronics as the Virtus and Taigun, so the same kind of job applies. The VIN check confirms it for your car.
