The job
The car is a rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracán Spyder in Tampa, Florida. It had a brand-new BCM2 (body control module 2) fitted. A new module comes from the factory without the car's configuration, so it has to be coded to the car before the functions it controls work properly. autocodeRHV did the coding remotely, so the car stayed in Tampa.
What BCM2 does on a Huracán
The Huracán uses Volkswagen Group electronics. On these cars BCM2 is a body and comfort module: it handles things like central locking, keyless and convenience functions, and it works with the immobiliser and the other modules on the network. When it's replaced, the rest of the car expects to see a module that matches its own configuration and security data.
Why a new BCM2 can't simply be plugged in
- It's blank: a new module doesn't know the car's equipment, market or body style (a Spyder has a roof and other body functions a coupé doesn't).
- Security data: modules linked to the immobiliser and Component Protection have to be matched to the car through the manufacturer's online systems.
- Software level: the module's software has to fit the rest of the car's modules.
That's why this kind of job normally means a dealer visit. On an exotic car in a city without a nearby Lamborghini dealer, that can mean transport and days off the road.
How the remote session works
The car stays where it is, with a diagnostic interface on the OBD port and a battery charger connected. The engineer connects to that interface over the internet, works through the dealer software, and checks every module for faults at the end. The remote coding guide explains the setup step by step.

Replacement modules on Lamborghini, Bentley, Audi, Porsche and other Volkswagen Group cars, including BCM1/BCM2, gateways, clusters and infotainment units, can usually be done the same way. Send the VIN and the part you've replaced and you'll get a clear answer and a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions
Can a new BCM2 be coded on a Lamborghini without going to a dealer?
Yes, in many cases. The coding and the online parts of the job can be done remotely with the car at your own workshop, with a diagnostic interface and a battery charger connected.
Do you work on Lamborghinis in the USA?
Yes. This Huracán Spyder was in Tampa, Florida. Sessions are booked in US time zones.
What do you need from me for a module replacement?
The VIN, the part number of the new module, and photos of any fault messages. Anti-theft related jobs also need proof of ownership.
