The job
A 2023 Porsche Taycan in Germany had a different steering wheel retrofitted. Fitting the wheel is mechanical work. Making the car accept it, with every button and function working, is coding. autocodeRHV did that coding remotely.
Why a steering wheel needs coding
A modern steering wheel is an electronic component. Its buttons, any heating, a drive-mode switch and paddles all talk to the steering column electronics and the rest of the car. If the car is coded for the old wheel, a new one can show faults, have buttons that do nothing, or features that stay off.
What retrofit coding covers
- Steering column electronics: coded for the new wheel's variant and controls.
- Functions: features the new wheel brings (for example heating or a mode switch) enabled where the car supports them.
- Vehicle configuration: updated so later dealer software updates don't undo the retrofit.
- Checks: all modules read for faults at the end.
Airbag work is part of any steering wheel swap. The airbag must be fitted by a qualified technician following Porsche's procedure, and any airbag warning has to be resolved properly, never hidden.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Porsche Taycan steering wheel retrofit be coded remotely?
Yes. The car stays at your workshop with a diagnostic interface and battery charger connected, and the coding is done over the internet.
Do you work on Porsches in Germany?
Yes, with sessions in German or English. This Taycan was in Germany.
Will a dealer update undo retrofit coding?
Not if the vehicle configuration is updated as part of the job, which is how it's done.
